waiting

 Oct 29, 2012

I am cleaning the kitchen, packing for the move, and glueing a piece of Riana’s pink resin picture frame back together, all while listening to contemporary christian on Pandora radio. The song “ Everlasting God, ” by Lincoln Brewster plays, and I seam to hear a message for the first time, although I have not only heard this song before, but have sang it for worship and very familiar with the bible verse it was based on.
Isaiah 40: 31...... “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not be faint.”
What I heard while listening to the song was a question; “ what does it mean to wait upon the Lord?”  What does it mean? My answer is this; To wait upon the Lord is to do exactly that... Wait. Wait for Him to move. It is through waiting that we learn trust, and through trust our faith is strengthened. It is then that our strength rises.
We can’t go through these steps without trials, and it is because of these trials that we have to initially learn to wait. The question then becomes, “ Are you willing to to trust, in the middle of a storm?”...
So many of us have become broken to the point of being unwilling to trust, ever again. So many of us also claim to trust Christ  with our eternal lives. If we trust Him with our “ Forever”, trusting Him with our “now’, our mortal lives, should not even need a thought.
Trusting in the midst of a storm means our strength will rise. It is then that we will glimpse His peace that passes all understanding.
